Congratulations!
If you are reading this page, you probably have, or soon will have a new member of your family. The birth of a child is the greatest blessing which God gives to a family. Our church is eager to assist you as you prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.
Please call the Rectory office at 508-763-2240 to setup a Baptismal time
Do you realize that...
Baptism initiates your child into a
life-long journey of faith?
Baptism calls you to teach your child how
to embrace the cross of Jesus;
to share in his life death, and resurrection?
The Rite of Baptism charges you as parents to be
the first teachers of your child in the ways of faith,
"...by bringing him/her up to keep Christ's commandments by loving God and our neighbor. Do you understand what you are undertaking?"
These are words taken directly from the Rite of Baptism.
The Rite of Baptism also says, as we trace the sign of the cross on your child's forehead...
"The Christian community welcomes you with great joy."
We know that parents want nothing less than "great joy" for their children.
PREPARATION FOR THE
CELEBRATION OF BAPTISM
Download the two forms on this page.
1. Family Information
2. Sponsor Certificate
Complete the "Family Information" form and bring it to the parish office at the rectory.
BEFORE CHOOSING GODPARENTS:
Read the information on the "Sponsor Certificate" Form.
Godparents, or sponsors as the sacrament calls them, are asked to meet some minimum criteria before serving as a sponsor. Sponsors serve as spokesmen for the church; they stand in proxy of the entire community of faith which pledges to assist you in your role as first teachers of your child in the ways of faith. For this reason, the church asks that those who will speak on behalf of the church, will share in the faith - the knowledge and practice - for that community they will represent.
